'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith renews battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he remembers the dramatic final moments of Swansea's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses following the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range effort from 25 yards, and his teammate immediately slammed home the deflection before charging toward the crowd to mark the goal, with the crowd swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result sealed an incredible recovery given the team had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the latter period. Amid the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter shouting out and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The result booked a next round fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that far out," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right wing-back after Orient changed formation. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who praised the way Orient played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they are adept at control and neutralize a game. You can believe you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even noticing. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It takes a tough attitude and attention just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a popular figure across a couple of years at Orient and has quickly replicated that in his new home. At Orient he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a temporary move at League Two Salford City, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without serious challenge. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that development for his team and nation, performing well for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including two matches games against a football powerhouse. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he manipulates the ball and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This represents an incredible journey for the kid from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who was raised observing his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for his father's team.

Manchester United Experience

The player's sole appearance for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the host city, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the stadium roof was shut owing to conditions of freezing cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he says, grinning. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was unbelievable."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it reached a stage where I believed I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

New Environment

It is the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to his new neighborhood, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called player transport, a team vehicle driven by club employees, the transport team, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"My companions include a teammate, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to spend time with the lads but I'm planning to be the next one out of the minibus and behind the wheel. Franco is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would mix with followers on London's Central line after beginning his trip at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
